How does coworking improve motivation?

Many of us now find it hard to get motivated and feel positive towards the idea of working, especially since the rocky interruptions we have faced over the past two years with Covid. That’s one of the main reasons why coworking is becoming so popular again, having no restrictions now allows us to join together in unison once more.

So, how does coworking actually help to improve your motivation towards work?

Energy

When working with other likeminded people, you are able to bounce off and reciprocate from their energy, absorbing the positivity and advice that they give you. These same co-workers are also there to share your achievements with, causing you to feel proud and accomplished; a feeling which you will make you motivated to work towards again.

As you are surrounded by people all the time, they are able to help hold you accountable for your actions helping to deter any procrastination. Yes, everyone loves to put off their biggest task until Friday afternoon and then regret it! But having motivated colleagues around you will influence how efficiently and well you work.

Companionship

Here at Rume2, coworking allows you to never feel isolated or lonely. There are always other people here to take breaks with, chat over work or ask for advice. A change of scenery can also help battle the feeling of being unmotivated and trapped whilst at home, as well as the fact that you can escape all distractions such as the children, TV, pets etc.

A study has shown that between 75% and 90% of co-workers love the personal connections that coworking makes possible, they feel more engaged and motivated to work and feel less lonely. All those positive reactions put together make co-working the key to employee happiness, which consequently boosts productivity.

Opportunities to move

A lot of coworking spaces offer showers, and if they are in a central location a gym is usually nearby. Coworking allows you to take breaks whenever suits you, as well as choose how long/short you make them. That leaves a good chance for you to meditate, go for a walk, or workout at the gym during a time of the day when YOU feel most motivated! You can tailor time to suit YOU. Most likely, after doing something for your wellbeing, you will likely feel more positive towards your work, as the overhanging thought of ‘I’ve got to work-out later, I can’t be bothered’ is gone.

A lot of people, however, who choose to co-work, often push themselves and work so hard, thus meaning they lack the art of properly looking after themselves mentally and physically. Overall wellbeing is extremely important and plays a huge role in your attitude towards work as well as motivation.

Lower stress levels

We’ve all been in situations where work takes 1000x longer due to slow internet, right? Well, when working in a coworking space such as Rume2, the Wi-Fi and internet is extremely fast, meaning no stress or online rage, of course leaving you in a naturally calmer state to feel positive about work.

Coworking also provides a good structure to your workday, as well as something to ‘get out of bed for’. This structure is given in a flexible way, allowing you to turn up/leave when you need, take regular breaks and choose which days to come in, all according to your hourly pay for a desk. No boss to shout at you, say you’re late or cause you unnecessary unrest. PLUS boosted motivation, not working from your bed, and no home distractions in sight!

Another benefit of co-working alongside motivation is the collaboration and business opportunities of the people who are working around you. Quite often, if you can work together with someone, or join teams, you will get your tasks done much quicker.

So, why not give co-working a go? Many businesses offer a free trial, allowing you to test out if a shared office space works for you. You will certainly feel the benefits of working alongside other employees, especially when it comes to happiness…and most importantly, motivation!
